If you’re required to have a learning objectives display to post your daily or weekly learning targets, you know how time-consuming it can be to write those out on your whiteboard. Not only does it take a lot of time, but it can also take up a lot of space!

I would highly suggest investing in a learning objectives display system like these “I can…” cards. (Don’t worry, if you’re required to use “I will…”, “We can…”, or “We will…” statements I’ve got you covered!)

Once you have the standards to display, then you get to think about where they would best fit in your classroom.

Binder Rings Display

If you are only wanting to display your focus standard of the week for each subject and not every single one you will be touching on, I love this solution!

Print out your cards, laminate them, and then hole punch them in the two top corners. Attach two command hooks for each subject to your wall, door, desk, etc.

Then you can just flip to your focus standard and display it.

This is a great solution for anyone that doesn’t have a lot of storage space or tends to lose pieces easily. Your storage is built into this learning objectives display!

Magnetic Display

As a kid, I loved writing on chalkboards and whiteboards – it must have been the aspiring teacher in me. Today, not so much. That is definitely the perfectionist in me! I tend to stay away from writing on the board and instead attach magnets to things like the daily schedule, picture directions for kids, and things that are constantly changing.

This is another great solution for your standards. After you laminate and cut out your standards, just use magnetic dots or tape on the back to make the pieces magnetic.

This solution also allows you a little more wiggle room with the number of standards you want to display because it is so easy to manipulate!

Bulletin Board Display

If you have a traditional bulletin board (or enough wall space to make a fake one), you could easily make an “Our Learning” or “Learning Targets” bulletin board that focuses on your objectives.

I think this would be a great solution for a combo class (like K/1) because you’ll have double the standards on this learning objectives display and this gives you a little more room.

Pocket Chart Display

If you are swapping out your standards daily or simply don’t have the wall space, a pocket chart may be the solution for you.

If you go this route, make sure you test print a page to ensure your sizing is correct.

Binder Display

This last solution is not my favorite, because it is so easy to forget about. But it is a great option if you don’t have wall space in your room.

For this method, you would add your standards to sheet protectors and place them in a binder that could be stood up on a shelf. The best part of this learning objectives display solution is you don’t have to laminate the cards, so your prep time is cut in half!

Free Objectives Headers

No matter which route you go, you’ll probably want to label each section of your display with subject headers. Grab this free set of headers to add to your learning objectives display!
